HELLLOOOOO! Welcome to Elise fails at NaNoWriMo part one! (as you can tell I’m very optimistic about how this month will turn out. 😊)
Before I really get into this post, let me do a little housekeeping. For anyone who has been living under a rock, NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. It is basically the time when writers everywhere come together to procrastinate and cry over their unfinished works… Oh! I’m sorry I meant come together and write 50,000 words in a month. My bad
Second thing I’d like to talk about is what my WIP is all about! I mentioned during the summer that I had began outlining a high fantasy story about elves. I never really got too far into outlining the plot so I can’t give specifics but I’ll say it has three different POVs (two girls and one guy) and two of these POVs are from elves, the other is half elf/half human.
This is what I thought I would be focusing on for NaNoWriMo, until… Well a few days ago I found myself thinking about another idea I had begun writing this past summer. Online I’ve called this project “Rush” and described it as kinda similar to Panic by Lauren Oliver where a group of recent high school graduates spend their last summer before college in a small-town competition where the winner gets the pot of money. It’s very character driven and is told from the point of view of three main characters. This is what I’ll be working on for the rest of November and hopefully I can stick with that!
Wellllll… I haven’t been doing terrible…
(The first three days were the total word count for my high fantasy project)
Day 1: 1231 Words
Day 2: 2254 Words
Day 3: 3213 Words
(Now word counts will be referring to Rush. I started November with it originally at 15017 words, just for some context)
Day 4: 15247 words
Day 5: 15923 words
SO HOW AM I DOING?
Eh… like I said, it’s not the worst. Hopefully switching ideas to something I’ve spent more time with and outlined a bit more will help me out. I think I’ll come back to my high fantasy story as soon as November is over. Hopefully then I can take the time to really outline the idea and hopefully write it a bit more next year.
How is your November going? Are you participating in NaNoWriMo? How is your writing/ reading going? Do you have any questions about my current WIP? ANY OTHER RANDOM NONSENSE YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT?
